Never buy the same book twice.
Book Tanuk is a family catalog of your children's books. Scan the books you have, give each child a shelf of their own, and share the list with the people who buy them books.
It is an app for parents, on iPhone, iPad and Android. Book Tanuk is made by Tellwright Multimedia LLC, a small company in the United States.
You say it "book tah-nook".
What it does
- Add books fast. Scan the barcode on the back, or scan a whole stack in a row and check them all at once. You can also search by title or author, photograph a cover, or type a book in.
- One library, a shelf for each child. Every book is entered once. Mark which children it is for, their favorites, the ages it suits, your own tags, and where it lives in the house.
- No more doubles. Book Tanuk warns you before you add a book you may already have, so you can scan a book in a shop and check first.
- Share with family. Invite a co-parent, a grandparent or a sitter into the family library, each with the right access. Send a teacher a view-only link that opens in a web browser, with no account needed.
- A wishlist relatives can use. Share your wishlist with a link. Relatives tap "I'll get this one", so two people don't buy the same gift.
- Print it or take it with you. Print the list or save it as a PDF, and move books in and out with a spreadsheet or a Goodreads export.
Why families like it
- Works on iPhone, iPad and Android together. A co-parent on Android and a grandparent on an iPad see the same library.
- Kept online and easy to move. With an account, your library is saved to our server, so a new phone gets it all back when you sign in.
- Works without a signal. Add and change books anywhere. Changes are saved on the phone and sent when you are back online.
- Private by design. No ads, no tracking, no analytics tools of our own, and we never sell your information.
Who it is for
Book Tanuk is for parents and the other grown-ups in a child's life: co-parents, grandparents, caregivers and teachers. It suits families with young children and a growing pile of picture books, children who split their time between two homes, homeschooling families, and families who get a new book every month.
Book Tanuk is for adults. Children don't have accounts and don't sign in. A parent adds each child with a nickname, and a first name only if they want to.
Your information
When you create an account with Apple, Google or an email address and password, we get your email address and your name: the one you type, or the one Apple or Google shares. We use it to sign you in, so your family library works on every phone you use. We do not use it for ads or sell it.
Your family's books, children's nicknames, notes and cover photos are kept on our server so that everyone in your family sees the same library. You can also try Book Tanuk without an account; then your library stays on your phone.
The Privacy Policy explains exactly what we keep, who can see it and how to delete it.
Coming soon
Book Tanuk for iPhone and iPad is coming to the App Store, and Book Tanuk for Android is coming to Google Play, in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Book Tanuk is free to download. Adding books, sharing with your family and the wishlist are free. An optional paid family plan is planned for 2027, and we will describe it here before it starts.
Happy reading!
